UPDATE:Someone said that there is no sam connector for mid 2018 and 2018 do not have efi IC that there is new security. Anyone with available schematics for newer 2018 models?

sam connector missing. im thinking soldering sam connector because it looks like pinout is there.

 

Here is a more detailed picture of the chip in the picture above, maybe somebody else will have better luck in finding a data sheet or something. I've tried contacting both Renesas as well as Intersil directly to locate information about the chip and neither have any clue about what it is.

 

I can confirm that the hirose connector does NOT fit on the pins between the T2 and the CPU. If you look elsewhere you will find that this plug is found in multiple places throughout the board, though between the T2 and the CPU is the only place where the pins are covered up. Scratching back the traces and tinning the pads reveals that the pins have a smaller than 0.4mm pitch. After doing some basic math, I estimate the pitch needed to be about 0.27mm, and at this time there is no sam connector available on digikey or mouser. I do not have a steady hand enough needed to solder micro wires to the pads to test for connectivity, though maybe somebody else will.

 

I solder wires but no connection. We would need schematics but even that doesn't mean it would allow write. If schematics are there I could solder but issues is layout/data sheet.

 

I'm confident that I could find at least more info than we have now with a successful soldering to the pads. My hands are tied steady enough nor do I have the proper equipment to be able to attach wires to each of the pads without bridging anything. It may not lead to anything important, but anything is better than nothing .

On a side note, I've heard from multiple sources (questionable credibility) that connectivity to the board may be possible through thunderbolt ports somehow. One source even said specifically the "back-right port" is used to probe the board. I have yet to confirm or deny this but my be worth looking into.

model 2018 have special chip security so cant remove efi on this moment no solution friend
